You will not be given preparation time and should have a blank copy of the poem....

10th December - Hi - Sorry I'm not there but a stomach bug has got the better of me. So...you need to work on Perfume...In groups, discuss the following and make notes: 1: What challenges does Suskind face when writing about the sense of smell? 2:The work has been widely hailed as a social history. What aspects of eighteenth century Paris and France are captured most vividly? 3: Perfume is widely compared to The Name of the Rose a 1983 Italian novel by Umberto Eco. Research the similarities 4: The author's point of view is as an omniscient outside voice. What are the positive and negative implicaions of this?

Hi, you need to revise character, symbolism, theme and historical context in preparation for Monday's essay.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Goldfish bowl presentation on the social and historical context of Blood Wedding.
Blood is more than a liquid running through our veins?
Lorca's theme is based in the rigid laws of the lovers' community, which decree that Leonardo must die for his transgression. That is, the terrible vengeance enacted against Leonardo is seen to represent extremism, intolerance, and inflexibility. These charges of inflexibility were understood to be leveled against those persons who were resistant to social and cultural change during an era when such change was largely inevitable.
A reflection will follow this discussion.
In what ways do place and time matter to this work?
------------------------------------------------
due Monday 5th November
This week we will work on Part 2 of The Outsider
Next Monday (5th November)you will sit your Supervised Essay on The Outsider. This is an important lesson and although this writing is not assessed it will be kept in your file and could be used by the IB to authenticate your work.
You will be allowed to use the text and given approximately 50 minutes to complete the task.
Revise The Outsider in preparation for this and make notes in your journal on all of the headings given to you.
